This is the face of Mexican food in NYC

I don't think good, inexpensive Mexican (Hispanic, Spanish or South Ameircan included) food exists in this city.

Sure, I can hit one of the cheap taco/Chinese/hot dog joints in our neighborhood... or I can shell out 20-bucks a plate for a good meal — but there is nothing in between.

Any attempt at even getting ingredients to cook a proper meal is impossible when this is considered the "South of the Border" section in my grocery store.

you need to find el bario, where the real people shop. that's really funny, though, that Urbane NYC has fewer authentic items to purchase … no, I really have to revert to "not on Manhattan, find it in other burroughs" (but not before learning how to spell b –––)" advice.

you know that maria and luis on Sesame Street were not eating the Taco Bell sauce!
