This dog was not taking his post in front of the NSA Supermarket lightly.
I found him as I was working the Washington Avenue Sidewalk Saturday as part of my new job with the Heart of Brooklyn, a non-profit in my neighborhood.
The area along Wash Ave. reminds me a lot of Northeast KC — an area that is doing everything it can to be more economically viable and vibrant while battling a reputation of being unsafe or dead.
With a few already-marquee restaurants and shops, several more small places have moved in only the past year or so taking advantage of low rents. Unlike KC, though, the growing population in the area is mostly from the Caribbean (or the Midwest).
