Snow Day

Illinois State Road Trip (re-cut) from Wednesday Weekly on Vimeo.

For close to three weeks this damn city has endured more than a foot of snow, ice and enough cold to keep many of us indoors and drinking heavily.

Today we were slapped once again as we took on another 6-inches of snow in less than 24 hours. The high was 5 degrees... yes, a high of 5.

Of course, this meant that most every school and public institution was closed to the public — except the Library. With an entire day to burn, I decided to forgo my usual habit of getting drunk by 10 a.m. and instead taught myself how to use a new video editing software I got for Christmas.

I went through hours of online tutorials and pages of FAQs until we finally arrived at a re-cut version of my original Illinois State Road Trip (yes, I fixed the annoying typo). Originally, I used the iMovie video editing program that came with my Mac. But that was like driving a go-cart compared to this new editing program. iMovie also left my final product with a lot of be desired in the quality of the video. That is not to say this version is any work of art, but it is better.

So, how did you spend your snow day?
